Bracelet

Click for larger image.
This is the bracelet I made when I went to my Mom and Step dad's house. I used thrift store jewelry and little bits and pieces of found junk as well as some of my step dad's jewelry stuff. I'm pretty happy with the mix of old and new, expensive and inexpensive. Plus, it jingles when I move around and that's always a plus. There are some really cool charms and lockets on there, and I really like the different metals mixed together. Kris hates it, but what can you do?

Lucy Grace, I can't wait!

I just saw my beautiful friend Glo and her husband Josh yesterday, she is sooo pregnant. I can't wait for their (sure to be gorgeous) baby girl to be born.
I am so excited and JEALOUS! But my time will come I guess. I am loving my life with Kris right now, I am just so happy. I think that's rare for people to be able to say, but I am. I have amazing friends and family, and the best man I could ever hope to share my life with, excepting the fact that he farts in my face, but whatever.
Now all I need is a good job, and to get into school. Need to work on that.
Other that all that stuff.. I've hit somewhat of a creative wall, I can't seem to get into making anything lately. Mom and Joe are coming to pick me up today to make some jewellery, so hopefully that will give me the kick in the butt I need to start creating again.

Bleegrh

I came home from work early today, just feeling a bit under the weather. I don't know if it's the heat or what, but I just feel run down and dizzy. Just ate to try and make myself feel better, my chef boyardee was nothing compared to last nights continued yellow rice orgy with pb&j on the side.
We can't eat like kings everyday though eh? Just thought I'd check in to assure myself that no, nobody is reading this still. So, mission accomplished then eh?
Working on another journal page, see you later.

A Very Daunting Task

This page was made because I wanted to practice my backgrounds using paints. I am not a fan of how bright the colors turned out though....but I love the texture I created. There are ripped bits of paper in there underneath the paint and the whole thing just feels lovely. I am in love with texture these days. I loved the boys expression, like he was given this job to do that he has no idea how to accomplish, I feel like that sometimes for sure.
Oh how I wish that we had good flea markets here, it would be so much fun to go cruise those to find things to use in my art, I wish I was back in Florida, they have the best ones.
Another day,

Lonely

Click for larger image
This is one of my favorite pages, and is getting more into the style I'm comfortable with. the girl is printed on vellum sheet (I think) and was sent to me by a swap partner. Other than that I used various papers and cardboard. Oh, and that flower was given to me by Kris, it has been pressed and sitting around for awhile, so I stuck it into the journal between these pages, I think the colors work really well.
Other than that it's lunch time for me here and I just got done eating leftover yellow rice (oh, how I love thee!) and am not to anxiously awaiting going back out in to the hot sun to work.
I made fried chicken last night, the first time I ever attempted it, and Kris said it turned out good. If you ask me it wasn't crispy enough, but is anything ever?

Set Man Above all Other Creatures

Click for larger image
So, here is another journal page, again, I used an old children's book. This page is getting there, but still not one of my favorites.
Kris is working again today, so I'm very bored. We just got season 2 of Rome, but I can't watch it without him, he would kill me! So I'm wasting time on the computer, doing laundry, and trying to clean the house. Does anyone else feel like their house just won't stay clean?
I picked up a few new craft things yesterday that I'm pretty excited about, including some ranger inks that I've been wanting to try, and also some weathered wood crackle medium, hopefully I'll find some inspiration to use them today. Speaking of Ranger inks, I sent pictures of a project I made (the shadow box) to Mr. Tim Holtz http://www.timholtz.com/index.php who is one of my all time favorite artists, and who created several cool products for Ranger, and he said is was great. Problem is it was one of those semi generic responses, so I have no idea if he wrote it or not.
Oh! I forgot to say that I tried crab legs for the first time yesterday! There I was, with a steaming leg in front of me... I pried the thing open and got out this huge enviable piece of meat. I carefully dipped it into the butter and brought it to my mouth.. I hate seafood, but crab legs are so fun to open! It's like it's own little experience! I thought it was going to bring me hours of enjoyment that night! I put it in my mouth with much anticipation, and then...as soon as I bit into it I spit it into my napkin because in the immortal words of my Meme, "It tasted like someone threw up in my mouth!" I feasted on a meal of corn and bread sticks instead, and made up for the missed calories with pie. Gloria, if you're reading this, your mom can sure cook!
But anyway, I hope every ones day is going well. I'll talk to you later.

A caged bird, and a love/ hate relationship

So, here are a few more from the still rather boring pages of the beginning of the journal.

Again, still very plain and not too much fun, but good for what they are I guess.

Keep Yer Dukes Up

I made this for Josh's birthday, The first picture is with flash to show the true colors, and the second is just the overall piece. I wasn't too happy with this one, something seemed off about it, but he seemed to like it and that's all that matters. I am so glad it's Friday.

Woot!

Finished Deathly Hollows!! And it was everything I hoped it would be! I couldn't wait until I read the other books first, I wikipedia'ed the last book to brush up. There is a rumor that J.K. Rowling might be writing another book "for charity" in the next few years, I really hope she does, or at the very least that she starts up another series of books.

This page is very....boring to me. I still don't think I've quite found my style at this point. You'll see a few more like this- kinda plain, with drawing, which is not my forte. I drew an image that I found in a magazine and put the spine (from a vintage childrens book) behind it.
Still not great- but getting there.
Another day at work- it's been so hot outside, and my air conditioner doesn't seem to want to work right. Boo.

Wish I could pray

Click for close up!
This is the page that inspired the Wish I could Pray ATC- this was the very first page I did in this journal- the title page actually came afterwards.
Initially I didn't want this book to be a journal- I was just bored one night and decided to make something.
Now that I keep adding to this book I am surprised by how much I miss it when I don't make an entry. I love using it as a way to try out new techniques (which you'll really notice later on in the entries) without having to stress over whether or not they look up to snuff.
I liked using the vintage tattoo style images to go with the religious theme- when you think about it a lot of the tattoo style stuff is borrowed from the Victorian era- I thought that worked with the frame as well.
Hope you enjoy- and sorry for the crappy scanned pictures!

First page of visual journal

Click for close up!
This is the first page in my visual journal- I just wanted something to record the date on, that little bubble says 2007 if you were wondering....
That little girl is from an old childrens book and she just reminded me of me. This page is nothing special, but i really like it.
I'll be posting more pages- probably one or two a day to catch you up with the rest of the journal.

Wow

So- I was at work today, and there was a total Wild West style shoot out right in the area I was
working in. I almost shit my pants. Circumstance and fate had a lot to do with me not being in the line of fire. I'm not going to work tomorrow either- because all the people involved (who ran into their respective apartments) saw me talking to the cops (not by choice mind you) so I'm waiting until the po-po can work some of their magic and arrest someone or do something before I go back. Nobody has been arrested yet, and that sucks, but on the upside, at least the news truck didn't show up because I really don't want to be that ignorant redneck on the news.
Pity me,

I have no life

THAT is why I'm posting again today. I decided to just go ahead and open this blog up to whoever comes across it- originally I only wanted a few people to have access, but then I realized that I'd love to hear from other people- in all walks of life and hear what they have to say. I'm hoping that I can post pictures soon of my visual/ altered journal- I can't wait, I love how it's going. There aren't many pages yet, but from the few that I've made I can already see some serious progress. Anyhoo, have a good one.

Deathly Hollows!

I finally got Kris to buy me the new Harry Potter book. I was so excited to read it until I realized that I can't remember a single thing about the last book except that Dumbledore died. I am going to have to find the other book and read it again before I can continue with this one- hell, if I can get my hands on all the other books I might just read them all again before this one. I hate the suspense. I am such a geek!

Apple Boy ATC

This is one of the first ATC's I made, I used a vintage childrens book, some scrapbooking papers and hand stitched the background. I really liked this one and was sad to see it traded away. Thought I'd share.

So- Death Before Dishonor

I made this quite some time ago, it's probably hard to see, but I love it. It's hanging up in my room along with all the other things I've made, I can't seem to find the courage to hang them up anywhere else. I found the picture in a magazine with a bunch of vintage tattoo flash then drew it and blah blah blah. You get the picture.

Wheeze

My asthma/allergies are really killing me today. I'm wearing mens deodorant. I can barely see the screen because I'm not wearing my glasses. My right knee and my back hurt. When did I turn into such a weird old lady?

Hmmm

Well, I'm thinking it's pretty obvious that nobody is really reading this- but this too I shall overcome. I'm just gonna keep right on writing anyway. I am so pooped. It was so hot outside today and I was out in it for eight looong hours. I need to go to school already. I really don't want to have to break my back for the rest of my life. I think I'm destined for greater things. Like teaching creative writing or art to high schoolers for instance.
But I digress.
I have to go make a card or something to that effect for a friends birthday, maybe if you're really good I'll post it here, or maybe I'll just stop talking to myself here and get on with real life. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
